Today Just didn't go my way . . .
Today is a day where I come back to the practice of letting go. Of not holding onto the things that didn't flow my way, or not re-analyzing or letting my emotions get tied up in a situation that is already over, already in the past. Many things did not flow today for me: Car getting towed with my phone in it . . . Letting go. Large bill for towing . . . Letting go. Glass broken with gifted essential oil all over the bathroom floor . . . Letting go.
There are so many ways daily that we can do the work of letting go. I have learned over the years, through my practice, the breathing, the self-work, and through the experience of life, that to simply let go is the easiest and yet often it is the most difficult thing to do; to release yourself from reliving that one moment again and again. That is the gift you give yourself. The fresh start, the new beginning. The next moment, is right there in your next inhale.
Let go of all the ways you tell yourself you are not enough. Breathe deeply, allow yourself to feel it and then move on to the next. It sounds trivial, perhaps trite. But it works. In the wise words of Pema Chodron:
"Lean into the sharp points and fully experience them. The essence of bravery is being without self-deception. Wisdom is inherent in (understanding) emotions."
Today I do that before I rest and wake up to a new day filled with new experiences and a fresh start. I begin to understand why the things that happened made me feel the way they did and then I let go, close my eyes and rest.
Such a simple, deep and beautiful practice . . .
